The Story

Corruption is based on the book Dial M for Murdoch: News Corporation and The Corruption of Britain by Tom Watson and Martin Hickman. It explores the phone hacking scandal that shocked the world and disrupted British politics. The play follows Parliament member Tom Watson as he takes on Rebekah Brooks, the leader of Murdoch's News International, after being smeared by the newspapers. As Watson and a group of journalists, lawyers, and politicians strive to expose the criminality within the media empire, they face personal risks and put their careers on the line. Corruption is an epic and often humorous true-life David and Goliath story of ordinary individuals fighting to save their democracy.

The cast of Corruption includes Dylan Baker, John Behlmann, Saffron Burrows, Anthony Cochrane, Sanjit De Silva, K. Todd Freeman, Eleanor Handley, Robyn Kerr, Sepideh Moafi, Seth Numrich, Michael Siberry, T. Ryder Smith, and Toby Stephens. The production features sets by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Jennifer Moeller, lighting by Donald Holder, sound by Justin Ellington, and projections by 59 Productions/Benjamin Pearcy and Brad Peterson. Theresa Flanagan will be the Stage Manager.
