On October 12, 2023, IGT Global Solutions Corporation, a subsidiary of International Game Technology PLC (IGT), declared that they had signed a contract with the California Lottery, the second-largest lottery operator in the US. Following the agreement, IGT will remain the lottery operator's primary lottery technology provider for the next seven years until October 2033. Furthermore, the deal features five one-year extension options.

The contract extension between IGT and the California Lottery will involve upgrading the second-chance platform to IGT's most recent cloud-based OMNIA solution. Also, California Lottery's business system applications will move to the cloud, offering improved flexibility and dependability, as well as enabling rapid innovation. Furthermore, IGT will upgrade its central lottery system in California, United States, to its OMNIA platform as part of the new arrangement.

Commenting on the extended partnership, Jay Gendron, IGT's Chief Operating Officer of Global Lottery, said:

"The California Lottery has trusted IGT to provide best-in-class, modern lottery solutions for more than three decades, driving continued increased sales for the Lottery and more than $41 billion to support California's public schools. IGT's enhanced second-chance promotions platform will provide maximum flexibility for the California Lottery to create a variety of exciting promotional drawings and bonus capabilities for its players."

Under the new agreement, IGT will continue to provide the regulated lottery operator with service and maintenance of its central system, communications network, and over 140,000 point-of-sale hardware located in more than 23,000 retail locations. Furthermore, IGT will supply the California Lottery with instant lottery games, field services, marketing and research capabilities, and call center support. The current deal between the two heavyweights in the lottery scene will expire in 2026.

While announcing the new agreement, IGT also said it has extended its partnership with Pan Malaysian Pools in Malaysia for the next decade. The new 10-year contract allows IGT to upgrade PMP's technology system to the Aurora lottery system.
