Virginia Woman Wins $1 Million Jackpot Twice in a Week Playing Online Lottery Game

Jennifer Minton, a resident of Gloucester, Virginia, experienced an incredible stroke of luck when she won $50,000 playing the Virginia Lottery's online Safari Quest game in mid-October. But her good fortune didn't end there. Just one week later, she hit the jackpot again, this time winning a staggering $1 million.

Minton's second win came as she was playing the game on her mobile device while sitting around a campfire. When the jackpot reset, she couldn't believe her eyes as the screen displayed a whopping $912,936, confirming her as the winner.

The Virginia Lottery's Safari Quest game, available on the state's Lottery app, offers players the chance to win big with bets ranging from $.20 to $50. The proceeds from the game go towards funding the state's public schools, with 10% of the more than $867 million collected this year allocated to the school budgets. Currently, the jackpot for Safari Quest stands at over $300,000.

While winning the lottery multiple times may seem unbelievable, it is not unprecedented. According to Harvard statistics professor Dr. Mark Glickman, the probability of winning the lottery a second time is the same as winning it for the first time. So, while Minton's double win is extraordinary, it serves as a reminder that luck can strike more than once.
