Lotteries: rules, odds and where to play

Each lottery here has its own page with the rules, the odds of every prize tier, the draw days and the lottery sites that sell it.

Rules and odds come from each operator's published rules. Where an operator does not publish a figure, we leave it out rather than guess.

We cover 58 lotteries. 9 ranked lottery sites sell at least one of them.

50 lotteries with their own page here, 48 with a results page, and 9 lottery sites ranked.

Panel Questions

Lotteries: questions

Where do the odds on these pages come from?

From the rules and prize charts each lottery operator publishes. Where the operator gives no jackpot odds, we work them out from the number matrix and say so on the page.

Is any lottery a good bet?

No lottery is a way to make money. Lotteries pay out less in prizes than they take in, so over many lines you should expect to lose. Play only with money you can afford to lose. Our lotto winning odds guide sets out the chances.

Can I play foreign lotteries online?

Some online lottery sites sell lines in lotteries from other countries. Each lottery page lists the sites we rank that sell it. Buying lottery entries online is not legal everywhere, so check the law where you live first.

Do some numbers come up more often?

No. In a fair draw every number and every combination has the same chance each time, and past draws do not change the next one. Our hot and cold lotto numbers guide looks at this idea in more depth. Past draws are listed on our lottery results pages.

Set the spend before you pick the numbers.

Most lottery lines win nothing. Decide a monthly amount you can lose, and use the deposit limits on the site you play at.
